Nature of Obsession

Okay. This is going to be one of those posts that makes me wonder why I can't spend this much time and thought one something that's going to be, well, graded. I've been thinking about the nature of obsession, and want to get my thoughts out in writing in a desperate attempt to clean out the clutter in my head. So. What better place to organize my thoughts than livejournal?

Life and plans

Hi everyone. I hope life is going well for all. I know I haven't been around much, and I feel sad being so disconnected from LJ. So, despite my decrease in slashy thoughts (more on that below), I'm back. Back back back. First off, I'd like to bring you a life update:

As some of you know, I've been working at a camp this summer. It's a daycamp that divides the week between Tilden park, which is a forested area up in the Berkeley Hills, and the Berkeley Marina, which is a bunch of rocks with a pier and a playground-in-progress. The heat's been melting many of the kidlinks, and we have to keep them full of water and slathered in sunscreen, which of course means we come home covered in water mixed with sweat and oily sunscreen. Yummy. Our supervisor canceled all hikes for today and had us just chillax, and we're all going to the beach tomorrow. So despite my instinct to run inside and hide from the sun, I'm out in it all day wishing I could tan instead of burn.

And, it's official. I didn't think it could happen, but working with a group of twenty-three five years olds, seven hours a day, five days a week, offically kills all slashy brain cells. I'm hoping they'll grow back at the end of the summer. Cross your fingers, guys.

On a more serious note, I've decided what I want to do with my life. Woohoo. I realize it's impossibly hard and I'm basically setting myself up for failure after failure, but I'm going to do screenwriting. I made the final decision at the beginning of the summer. I've always thought "Screenwriting, that would be amazing. But it's impossible. I should pick something more practical." But you know what? Fuck practical. I made the decision and now I have a direction to focus my energy, and it feels fantastic. I'm looking into internships for the school year, and I already have something that looks perfect for next summer, if I can get it. I'm thinking grad school for screenwriting at UCLA or USC. Then if I'm lucky and meet up with the right people, and, you know, write well enough, working for an hour long serial drama of some kind on network or (hopefully) cable. Of course this means I'll have to live in LA, but if I'm writing screenplays in 20 years it'll be worth it, and LA has some really nice spots, especially in Santa Monica.

Oh, one last thing. Periodically kids show up at camp in Green Day T-shirts(One kid even wears the "Made in the East Bay" shirt I have myself). This gives me the chance to proclaim how much I "really like Green Day" and give kids the chance to raise their hands if they, too, "really like Green Day" and tell me their favorite songs and all that fun stuff. But, and this is the cool part, they also have really fun connections to the guys. As, par example:

Kid 1: "My dad's friend moved into Billie Joe's old house. You know how he has a recording studio in the basement? We bought a bunch of his old equipment!"
Me: "Amazing!"

Kid 2: "My friend plays on his (Billie's) kid's soccer team. Sometimes he comes and helps coach!"
Me: "Are you sure? He can't be around much, what with recording and touring and all..."
Kid 2: "I think it's him. I went to a concert and it looks like the same guy."

And my personal favorite...
Kid 3: "My mom delivered Tre Cool's baby!"
Me: "Ewwwwww..."

All 100% true, I swear. So, that's all folks. I'll be in touch.

Love to all,

Hi everybody!

It's been a crazy week, but now I'm done. Here's a recap of my activities, because this week's actually been exciting and perhaps deserves a recap:
Friday (one week ago): Went to my last classes of the year, then ran back to my room, threw some stuff into a suitcase and barely caught my flight back up to Berkeley for job training.
Saturday: All day training. In the afternoon there was a "cookout" (ie BBQ) with co-workers. Then we all went to family night where we talked to parents of the incoming campers and assured them that we will not, in fact, loose or otherwise harm their children, and yes we do put sunscreen on them, and yes we know what poison oak looks like, and yes they'll be in a group with their friends, as long as they're the same age... blah blah.
Sunday: More training, actual planning this time. Then studying (or "studying") for my two remaining finals. (Oh the boring)
Monday: More studying. Then flew back down to LA so I could actually take my two remaining finals. Didn't end up studying very much, despite my best intentions. Instead talked to my roommate and various other friends who I won't be seeing over the summer =(.
Tuesday: Got up at 6:30 am(!). Did a bit of last minute studying and ate breakfast before my 8 am(!) final. Finished finals, did a happy dance, then packed up the car and headed back up north with the parents. Got home and collapsed in a boneless heap as the cat came and slept on my face.
Wednesday: Slept! Hung out all day with a friend I hadn't seen in awhile. We wandered downtown and ate ice cream and talked about our futures while we waited for my glasses to get fixed. Then we wandered back to my house and watched an episode of Buffy (she's almost done with the last season!). Then I went to more job training. After that, I drove our cool new hybrid car to the movie place and rented season four of Queer as Folk, plus the first disk of Deadwood which, according to the Mom, is fantastic and I must watch as soon as possible.
Thursday: More sleep! Watched lots and lots of Queer as Folk, and Deadwood (Which is pretty amazing, by the way.) Then more training, followed by dumpster diving with some friends behind bakeries, looking for bread. Then I watched Wonderfalls at a friends house until 2am. (Holy crap I watch a lot of TV)
Friday (today!): Slept more! Messed around with photoshop, AND got my ass down to an internet cafe so I could catch up with things online.

*Whew* So that was my week.

Oh- and if anyone knows of any good places to buy shoes, of the boot variety, let me know. Preferably in the Bay or at least California area.

I'm only slightly late... really!

Well, just finished two mid-terms and an application, so I'm in the clear. For now.

So, what I was doing yesterday while I should have been studying/working on stupid essays? That's right, thinking about our favorite bassist, and telling anyone who would listen what a special day it was. And I might have skipped onto livejournal during fits of procrastination to check out all the Mike posts. But, alas, I didn't have the time to put together a proper pic spam as was the original plan. So... I'm doing it now. Sorry for the grainy-ness of some, my skillz don't go quite far enough to get rid of that. So here goes...

Okay, so I have to send out big happy birthday wishes to _somniac_. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! May your birthday be filled with all the Billie fantasies/real life spooning that your heart desires. You're an amazing, hilarious, kick-ass, fantastical, fun-mazing, cat-tastic, and just outright fantabulous person and I'm so so glad I've gotten to know you here in LJ land. I would have wished you a happy birthday before now, but I was going to try and finish a certain Fink fic and get that up in time. But it doesn't look like that'll be happening, mainly because I signed onto LJ and saw al_teregoz wrote a Billie/Mike piece that I'm going to have to go read, like, as soon as I finish this. I'm actually tearing up with excitement. Oh man. So, um, expect a somewhat late Fink fic SOON. Because I WILL get it done.

Just a wee bit of me info- The beginning of this quarter has been crazy. I don't think people are really that interested in the details of my Real Life, but suffice it to say I've had a ton of stuff to take care of and about 3x the work I had last quarter. I'm hoping it'll cool down and I can immerse myself back in LJ, at least occasionally. I'm sad I missed out on the formation the Church of Sexy Rock Star Hips and Open Collars, or CoSRSH&OC. Is it too late to join? Seems like just the church for me. Billie Joe in his priest outfit, yes. And penis shaped wafers? Where do I sign up? :)

Yes, so I have a fic to go read. HAPPY BIRTHDAY AUDREY! I hope it's amazingly Tre-tastic and Billie-ful.

Quick little update

Just wanted to let you guys know, I'm still alive... just hiding from LJ in an attempt to keep studying. So, I'm really behind on comments. I have a final tomorrow at 8:00 am (WTF?) But then I'm DONE! I would get caught up then, but I'm flying back home right after. So, expect some extremely late comments tomorrow and Thursday on all the fun stuff I've missed. EXTREMELY late. But it's my reward for finishing. That and the fantastic Green Day weekend. Green Day weekend! *excitement* I realllly want to run into the guys somewhere, that would be the coolest thing EVER. (I know it's not going to happen, just let me live in my little fantasy, K?)

Also- I've recently stumbled into the Queer as Folk addiction. I haven't been able to feed it that much, due to finals, but I am now the proud owner of seasons 1 and 2 and plan to watch TONS over break. I owe this all to Angie, I saw how enthusiastic she was about the show and I decided to check it out one day... I think it was Friday. I watched bits on youtube and was just, holy shit this is so addicting... SO ADDICTING. I went out and bought them and made them a reward for studying. (Okay, study for two hours then you can watch an episode... at least that was the idea.)

Anyway, I'm out- catch you all tomorrow. I actually have to go to sleep at a reasonable time tonight. 8:00 AM?? Grrrr.

God, I love Green Day so much. Just SO MUCH.

I was just telling a RL friend, one day you're going to tell people about me. One day my extreme obsessiveness will become your topic of conversation.

"In college I had a friend who..."

Wow, a short post.

Trust me, this goes somewhere... I think...

Well, it's happened again. One whole week and no updates from me. I could entertain you all with an account of my doings this past week, but even thinking about typing that up is making me tired. So, instead, I thought I'd share a fun train of thought that popped into my head the other day. Cause it was trippy.

I've Got Some Scattered Pictures...

Wow wow wow- not quite B-day time yet but we're getting there... So just because, HAPPY BIRTHDAY BILLIE JOE! *Loves* Here's to the pint sized king of punk on his big, er, 34. I bet Adie and the guys have wonderful plans for our tiny frontman today, huh? *Ponders the possibilities* And no, they aren't all slashy, lol.

In other, Green Day related news, you know how on itunes, little pics come up when you play a particular song? Well, if you didn't, you know now :) Anyway, it's suppose to be the album cover or whatever- but a few months ago I discovered you could set the pictures that show up yourself, so I've been going through my considerable Green Day library and assigning pics to different songs, which is quite fun. So I wanted to share the love- do you guys have any pics you think fit particularly well with certain songs? Or even, you know, kinda remind you of certain songs? Post them! It's fun! And because it is so fun, here's some of mine...
